General Terms & Conditions
Car Pick-up: To pick up the car, the driver needs to show an original ID or passport, an original driver's license and a credit / debit card to pay for the rental and the guarantee.
Age requirements: For all groups, minimum driver's age is 25 years of age and maximum is 80. Drivers aged between 21 and 24, are allowed to rent groups A, B, J and K after they accept Yound Driver's Surcharge for an additional charge of €4 per rental day (maximum charge 10 days) and under the condition that they hold a valid driver's license for at least 1 year prior to the pickup date. For drivers aged between 71 to 80 is applied (maximum charge 10 days) there is an additional charge of €4 per rental day.
Payment method: For all groups, a valid credit or debit card accepted by Hertz must be shown for all necessary pre-authorization amounts as well as pre-payments and settlement of final rental charges.
Deposit for Guarantee: Upon pick up of the vehicle, Hertz will preauthorise an amount from the driver's credit card as a deposit for guarantee which will be fully refunded at the end of the rental, provided no other charges arise. Please note that the refund can take up to 14 days, depending on the issuing bank of the credit card. The amount of the deposit varies according to the car group. Specifically:
- A, B, J, K, V1, V2: €250
- C, D, M, V3: €500
- N, R: €750
- Y, YL, 5, 9, V4, V5: €950
Driving license: A valid driving license held for at least one (1) year is required from the driver.
Grace period: At the end of the agreed rental period, Hertz allows a grace period of 29 minutes free of charge after which the customer will be charged with a minimum of one full day rental.
Early Return / Extension of rental: No refund for any unused voucher value/rental days. Ongoing rental extension should be arranged with Hertz Cyprus at least 48 hours before the intended/reserved rental expiry, to be charged as per valid retail tariff.
Traffic Fines: All fines resulting from the driver's misconduct are born solely by the renter. If the renter fails to pay them, Hertz will settle the fine and will charge the customer with the full amount of traffic fine plus the non-refundable amount of the Incident Administration Fee (25€ per case).
Insurance: All authorized drivers of Hertz vehicles are covered against damages from fire to the rented vehicle and Liability Insurance to Third Party death, injury and property damage up to the maximum amounts specified by the Republic of Cyprus. Both coverages are subject to General Terms of the Hertz’s insurance contract with its insurer.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW /SCDW): The renters liability for damage to the rented vehicle can be reduced, under the condition that the Traffic Law of the Republic of Cyprus is not violated, to a minimum charge of 600€ for Groups A, B, J, K, V1, V2; 700€ for Groups C, D, M; V3, 900€ for Groups N, R; 1300€ for Groups Y, YL, 5, 9, V4, V5, by paying a daily fee of €13, €16, €24 and €34 respectively.
The renter may reduce the above liability to a minimum charge of 150€ for Groups A, B, J, K, V1, V2, 200€ for Groups C, D, M, V3, 300€ for Groups M, Q 400€ for Groups Y, YL, 5, 9, V4, V5, by purchasing the additional daily coverage for an additional fee of €8, €10, €15 and €21 per day, respectively (SCDW).
Super Cover (SC): Τhe renter can be covered (with zero excess) in case of total theft or damage to the Hertz vehicle, provided that the renter has previously accepted the relevant coverage charges for CDW, SCDW, and TP, or has a reservation inclusive of these coverages, by paying additionally a daily fee of €3 for Groups A, B, J, K, V1, V2 €4 for Groups C, D, M, V3, €5 for Groups M, Q and €6 for Groups Y, YL, 5, 9, V4, V5.
The following cases are not covered by any insurance: Damage to the underside of the car, the wheels & tyres; broken mirrors and car glass or loss of the vehicle keys and documents; damages at the interior of the car; damaged clutch; any damage due to the lack of oil or as a result of usage of incorrect fuel; damage to the vehicle by being blasted or intentionally burned; damage caused due to influence by alcohol or drugs; damage caused by an unauthorized driver.
Theft Protection (TP): Theft protection is a service which if accepted reduces the renter's liability in case of theft of Hertz’s vehicle to 600€ for Groups A, B, J, K, V1, V2, 700€ for Groups C, D, M, V3, 900€ for Groups M, Q, 1300€ for Groups Y, YL, 5, 9, V4, V5 by paying an additional daily fee of €7, €8, €12 and €17 respectively. This excludes any thefts/damages of personal belongings.
Personal Accident Coverage (PAC): For a daily charge of €4 (with a maximum charge of 15 days), driver and passengers are covered for medical expenses resulting from an accident, while driving the rented vehicle, up to €1.000 and for the loss of life or total/partial disablement up to €10.000 and € 5.000 respectively. Aggregate indemnity for every accident is limited to €15.000.
Windscreen Protection (WSP): The renter's liability for damage on the windscreen of the car can be reduced, as per Rental Agreement's Terms & Conditions, to 0€, for a daily charge of €2 for groups A, B, J, K, V1, V2, €3 for groups C, D, M, V3, €4 for groups N, R, and €5 for groups Y, YL, 5, 9, V4, V5 (maximum charge 15 days).
Incident Administration Fee (IAF): In case of an accident regardless of renter’s liability, renter has the obligation to pay to Hertz a non-refundable fee of €25 to cover administration expenses.
Additional Driver (ADR): A charge of €4 per day has to be paid for each Additional Driver (maximum charge of 10 days).
Airport Charge (ASC): The charge applicable for delivery and collection of the rental car to all airports in Cyprus is €19.
Gasoline Prepayment Policy: For rental periods of 3 days or more, and at the start of rental, the renter is required to prepay the cost of any fuel in the tank of the vehicle to be rented. Upon returning the car –and only then– the renter may request a refund of the value of any remaining amount of fuel in the tank, which if less than the one the customer has prepaid, then the Refueling Service Charge will be applied, which today is €20.
Refueling Service Charge (RFC): €20 in addition to the value of the missing fuel in the tank of the rented vehicle.
Baby Seats / GPS: Available on request with a daily charge of €4 and €8 respectively (maximum charge of 10 days).
Fleet Availability: Hertz reserves the right to provide a different car model to that originally reserved of an equivalent or higher model type.
Delivery/Collection: Delivery/Collection outside Hertz offices is available on request basis. Minimum charge for Delivery or Collection close to a Hertz station is 25€ per Delivery/Collection. Delivery/Collection out of office hours is €25 per case.
One-way rentals: Applicable between Hertz locations following a written authorization and a special charge agreement with Hertz.
Taxes: All rates and charges mentioned above are subject to V.A.T.
